Aurora woman found dead in pickup truck

A 35-year-old Aurora woman who had been reported missing was found dead inside her boyfriend's pickup truck Wednesday afternoon, authorities said Thursday.

Officers discovered the body of Abigail Sanchez about 1 p.m. Wednesday while checking out a suspicious vehicle parked and running for several hours on the 600 block of Front Street.

Police said they found Sanchez, who had known medical problems police could not specify, unconscious and not breathing on the passenger side floorboard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities found no outward signs of trauma when her body was removed from the vehicle, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the Kane County coroner's office.

Police said Sanchez last was seen at the apartment she shares with her boyfriend before noon Tuesday, when she left to give a female acquaintance a ride to an unknown location. A family member reported her missing at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

During the investigation, police were told a man was seen exiting the truck in which Sanchez's body was found about 9 a.m. Wednesday — four hours before she was found dead.

Police said they believe they know the identity of the man seen leaving the truck and the female acquaintance to whom Sanchez gave a ride Tuesday. Police are trying to find both people so they can be questioned.

Aurora police ask anyone who may have information to call investigators at (630) 256-5500.
