Grand re-opening and dedication of the Nature Museum at Spring Valley planned for Feb. 6

Be the first to see new exhibits at Spring Valley Nature Center.

Spring Valley Nature Center and the Schaumburg Park Foundation welcome the public to an open house and dedication of new exhibits from 6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 6 at the Nature Museum at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will take place at 7 p.m.

Visitors will experience the ecology of Illinois' oak woodlands and the secret story told in the life of trees within the new oak tree exhibit, meet natural neighbors in a new backyard habitats exhibit and experience a new way of learning about the natural world.

The grand re-opening celebrates the updating of the outdated nature museum, a Schaumburg Park Foundation campaign. The renovated museum will allow for children to have an interactive experience with modern technology while immersing themselves in nature. The museum also is home to a nature library with hundreds of books, interactive displays, mounted examples of wildlife and a re-creation of a wetland habitat with native turtles.

The funding for phase one of the Campaign to Renovate the Nature Museum at Spring Valley has been generously provided by the Schaumburg Park Foundation and the Public Museum Capitals Grants Program of the Illinois Department of Nature Resources, Illinois State Museum.
