Millikin University president retires

DECATUR, Ill. — The president of Millikin University in Decatur has announced his retirement and says it’s effective immediately.

The Herald & Review in Decatur reported Harold Jeffcoat announced Tuesday he is retiring from the 2,300-student private school. He offered no reason other than saying it’s a good time for him to step down.

Jeffcoat was hired in 2010 after retiring as president of Texas Wesleyan University.

Van Dukeman chairs the school’s board. He said Jeffcoat has been talking about possible retirement with some board members for several weeks. He doesn’t believe there are any factors beyond Jeffcoat’s desire to retire.

Vice President of Enrollment Rich Dunsworth will be interim president.
