Chicago skyline could get new towers at Wolf Point

The Chicago skyline could get some new additions.

City planners have given approval to a three-tower development at a bend in the Chicago River known as Wolf Point.

The project has the backing of the Kennedy family, which owns the land.

The first building to go up would be an apartment tower of about 50 stories. The two other towers could take years to complete and could include residential units, hotel rooms and parking.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Thursday’s approval from the planning commission sends the matter to the City Council for a vote.

The developers are Hines Interests LP and Magellan Development Group LLC.

Wolf Point is one of the oldest settled parts of Chicago and was a commercial hub on the frontier in the 1820s.
