Libertyville High School Varsity Dance Team Qualifies For State Competition

The Libertyville High School Varsity Dance Team heads to state competition after takind 5th place in the 3A division at the Illinois High School Association Sectional Competition held at Grayslake North High School.

The team will be taking its jazz dance to the first-ever IHSA State Dance Competition at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, Bloomington, IL. Prelims are on Friday, January 25 with only the top 10 of the 30 state qualifying teams advancing to the finals on Saturday, January 26.

This is the first year competitive dance is recognized as an Illinois High School Association governed sport. IHSA oversight has meant a new set of rules, scoring rubric, and schedule for all dance teams choosing to affiliate under the new rules. The team performs at home football and girls and boys basketball games.
