Wheaton Massage Therapy moves to new location

After 27 years of serving Wheaton and the surrounding communities with high quality therapeutic massage, Wheaton Massage Therapy (WMT) is moving and closing its doors on County Farm Road.

Started in 1985 by Mary Anne Phemister, a nurse as well as a Registered Massage Therapist, WMT has been owned since 2000 by Molly Farrell also a massage therapist. Now it is time for the business to be passed on to other hands.

Earlier in December, negotiations were finalized for Health Care, PRN LLC, (HCPRN) to purchase WMT. HCPRN is owned by Wes Steffen, massage therapist and certified neuromuscular therapist, and has been in Wheaton since 1994. In fact, back in the early 1990s. Mr. Steffen worked at WMT until he established his own practice. There has been a mutual respect between the two practices ever since and when it came time for Ms. Farrell to sell the practice, Mr. Steffen seemed the most natural choice.

For Ms. Farrell this has been one of “the toughest decisions in [her] life.” As she says in a letter that was sent out to her clients “It has been a pleasure serving you for so many years. We have been flattered that you have trusted us with all of your stress and pain relief needs.” However, she is very content that she is leaving her clients in “the most capable hands” of Mr. Steffen and his highly skilled team of therapists as well as a few of the WMT therapists who will join him at HCPRN. Ms. Farrell is confident that her clients will find the same high quality of care at HCPRN as they have experienced over the years at WMT.

Over at HCPRN, which is located at 222C W. Willow Ave. in Wheaton, they have been busy getting ready to welcome the WMT clients. Mrs. Mary Anna Steffen, the office manager and wife of Mr. Steffen, says that they have increased the number of therapy rooms to 6 and have already welcomed many WMT clients in the few days!

Mr. Steffen holds up a high standard for his therapists and expects them to seek out quality continuing education each year with an emphasis on whole body systems for better therapeutic results. According to Mr. Steffen “Our referral network includes Medical Doctors, Dentists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and other allied healthcare professionals as well as other massage therapists… they refer to us because they know that we can help their patients or clients!”

To ease the transition for WMT clients, Mr. Steffen is honoring all valid unused gift certificates and packages sold at WMT after January 1, 2010.

Mr. Steffen stresses that both WMT and HCPRN are local businesses and not a franchise. This means that you receive full 60 minute hands-on therapy sessions ... an additional 20% value per session by comparison to the typical 50 minute spa or franchise sessions. The no tipping policy ensures that you know the costs up front… very helpful for working into your New Year budget!” WMT clients can find out more information about HCPRN at their website www.healthcareprn.com or by calling (630) 510-2211 or (630) 665-9332.
