Sheriff seeks help locating potential victims

Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart is asking for the public’s help in locating additional victims of a man suspected of criminal sexual assault.

Brian Thurman, 28, of Melrose Park, was charged Sunday with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault. He is being held at Cook County jail on $480,000 bond.

Sheriff’s police received a call on Jan. 11 reporting that an 11-year-old girl was having an inappropriate relationship with Thurman. During the investigation detectives learned that Thurman and the young girl had engaged in sexual activities, sheriff’s police said.

Detectives also learned during the investigation that Thurman has associated with young girls before and that young girls have been seen around his Leyden Township motel room, according to the sheriff’s department. Thurman has been known to frequent Chicago’s Northwest side and the Mannheim Road area.

Sheriff’s police ask anyone with information to call Cook County Sheriff’s Detective Unit at (708) 865-4896.
