Daily Herald report

Barrington officials have promoted police Sgt. David Dorn to the rank of assistant police chief and patrol officer John Burke to the rank of sergeant.

The office of assistant chief -- previously deputy chief -- has remained vacant for three and a half years for budgetary reasons, Police Chief Jerry Libit said.
