Learn about tax updates at MCC seminar

The Friends of McHenry County College Foundation continues the MCC Educational Seminar Series at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, with “Tax Update and Preparation” in the Scot Room, B178, at McHenry County College.

The guest presenters will be CPAs Mary Miller and John Verchota from Miller Verchota Inc. in Crystal Lake. Miller and Verchota are dedicated professionals with more than 35 years of business and accounting experience. They provide knowledge, understanding, and confidence in assisting with important business and individual wealth decisions.

Individuals who attend this seminar will walk away with an optimistic and satisfied outlook on taxes and accounting.

Mary Miller graduated from Columbia College with a major in accounting/business. She is an active member of The Illinois CPA Society, AICPA and The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. She has earned two additional designations in the field of business valuations.

John Verchota received a master’s degree in taxation from DePaul University and has been a CPA since 1977, the same year he graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis. He has worked in local public accounting his entire career. He has been a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Illinois CPA Society since May of 1978.

The next seminar will be in February and will focus on Planning Giving Options and Opportunities. The date will be announced later.
