4 seek Sugar Grove Township supervisor post

Four men are seeking the Sugar Grove Township supervisor position in April.

Supervisor Harry Davis, Clerk Thomas Rowe, Trustee Scott Jesseman and Curt Karas will be on the April 9 ballot.

Davis was appointed supervisor after Dan Nagel, resigned at the end of October. Nagel had been supervisor for 38 years.

Jesseman filed a complaint with Sugar Grove police questioning Nagel’s spending of township money. The investigation is ongoing, and no criminal charges have been brought. At the time, Davis was township clerk, and Rowe was a trustee.

Assessor Laura Ross is the only person running for assessor. Jim Edmonson had filed for the position but withdrew his petitions Wednesday. Jesseman had challenged the validity of Edmonson’s petitions, and there was going to be an electoral board hearing on the matter Friday.

Timothy Kolb and Phil Silagi are seeking the clerk position, and Greg Huggins filed for highway commissioner.

Two people are seeking the four 4-year terms as trustee: Scott Hester and Lee A. Drendel.
