Police: Woman in crib allegedly batters officer

PORTAGE, Ind. — A northwestern Indiana woman has been arrested after police say she struck an officer who discovered her curled up in a portable crib inside a mobile home.

The Times reports (http://bit.ly/WXRixt) that 30-year-old Rebecca A. Null of Portage was arrested early Friday on preliminary charges including battery to an officer.

Police say the officer investigating a report that a man had ripped off a woman's clothing tried to awaken Null after the officer found her in sweat pants and bra lying in the crib. Null screamed and struck the officer, who used a stun gun to subdue her.

The Times says the woman was examined at a hospital before she was taken to Porter County Jail, but an online system showed no record of her there.
