Church hosts MLK Day event:

Hearts the Same, a program to celebrate diversity and culture in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is scheduled for Jan. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville, 219 W. Maple Ave. Community kids in Grades K-5 are welcome to gather for “a day on not a day off.” Attendees will enjoy participatory experiences in music, art, storytelling, foreign languages and more — all with a message of awareness and acceptance. The cost for the program is $15, with $5 for optional extended care. Visit www.firstpreslibertyville.org for more information and online registration. Register by Jan. 15, space is limited. Special features of the program include musical, interactive activities by the church’s Chapel Music Team and a foreign language immersion segment offered by Language Stars. Hands-on art and storytelling projects will emphasize service and acceptance in “a land for you and me” as advocated by the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
