Robbins police chief resigns after DUI arrest

ROBBINS — The village of Robbins is seeing some turnover in its administration with the police chief retiring after a DUI arrest and the mayor also planning to step down.

Johnny Lewis Holmes on Monday told the SouthtownStar that he retired last week. Holmes says it is time for him to move on and is best for everyone involved. Holmes had led the Robbins Police Department since 1991. Midlothian police say his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he was arrested on a drunken driving charge last month.

Robbins Mayor Irene Brodie has held that job for more than 30 years. But she tells the SouthtownStar that she plans to resign by the end of the week. She says she’s “just kind of tired.”
