Committee to discuss Des Plaines Theatre code violations

The Des Plaines building code committee will meet Wednesday, Jan. 9, to discuss code compliance issues at the Des Plaines Theatre.

The committee will review problems with the facility’s fire curtain, boiler room and furnace room among other concerns, some of which have been out of compliance since December, and whether to extend a temporary occupancy permit.

The historic theater at 1476 Miner St., originally built in 1925 as a vaudeville house, reopened in November 2011 after nearly two years of extensive renovations. The committee meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in room 102 of City Hall, 1420 Miner St.
