New section of Cedar Lake Road open:

A new segment of Cedar Lake Road has opened to traffic between Route 120 and Town Line Road in the Round Lake area. This new three-quarter mile section connects with existing sections of Cedar Lake Road. This will provide motorists with a final link between Route 132 in Lake Villa and Route 60 in Round Lake. The project also includes new traffic signals and new turn lanes at the intersection at Route 120. “This is a significant project because opening this section of Cedar Lake Road provides an important north-south travel corridor that will reduce travel delays for residents and village of Round Lake emergency services,” said Paula Trigg, director of transportation/county engineer. The three-lane road improvement cost $6 million to build and was funded with the quarter percent Sales Tax for Transportation that became available in 2008. Construction began in 2011.
