Former N. Aurora man convicted of assaulting child

A former North Aurora man was convicted of sexually assaulting one of his own foster children, nearly nine months of being acquitted of sexual assault charges against another foster child.

Darrell E. Beck, 46, now of the 3300 block of Boulder Ridge Drive in Champaign, was convicted of one count of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Beck will receive a sentence between six and 30 years in prison for the Class X felony when he next appears at the Kane County Courthouse on March 7.

According to prosecutors’ case against Beck, he had sexual contact with a boy younger than 13 to whom he was a foster parent between Oct. 24, 2006 and June 26, 2007. The assault took place at Beck’s North Aurora home before his subsequent move to Champaign.

In April 2012, Beck was acquitted of sexual assault against another boy he was foster parenting during the same time period.

The case on which Beck was convicted Friday was investigated by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center and prosecuted by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office.
