ŸNBC’s hit TV show “The Voice” holds vocal talent auditions on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road, Rosemont. Applicants must be at least 15 years or older and a legal U.S. resident, and meet other eligibility requirements. All artists must register at nbc.com/the-voice/about/casting. Once registered, applicants will be given an “Artist Audition Pass” with a day and time to show up to the open call.

ŸThe Lyric Opera of Chicago has auditions by invitation only for experienced, classically trained singers in all voice categories who seek positions in the company’s choral ensemble for the 2013-2014 season. Audition materials must be received by Monday, Feb. 18. Accepted applicants will be seen at preliminary auditions from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 4 and 7, and 5 to 8 p.m. March 5, 6 and 8. ŸOakton Community College’s Play On festival seeks original play submissions by community college students from the Midwest. Plays must be one-acts (10 pages or less) and from students in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Only one submission is permitted per student. The submission deadline is Friday, April 5, and must be emailed as a Word document to Kate Tillotson at katet@oakton.edu. The festival is slated July 23-25.
