Winning photos range from abstract to literal

Each week’s DuPage County Neighbor section includes at least one entry in our Photo Finish contest. Our photo staffers pick some of their favorite submissions to run each week and then one overall monthly winner.

This week’s entries range from the abstract to the literal.

Carol Stream’s Angela Cichosz, for example, used a macro lens to create an abstract photograph of a large blown-glass paperweight with colors that simply pop off the page.

Lena Conway of Naperville, meanwhile, focused her efforts on a flower to provide some bright color during a time of year when the weather can be more than a little gloomy.

Walter Lesus of Sandwich says he was on a lunchtime walk at Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve near Warrenville when he took his picture that reflects the idyllic tranquillity of the preserve.

If you’d like to submit a photo of your own for consideration, (maybe there’s a new camera coming your way this holiday season) email it in .jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution to ssanders@dailyherald.com.

Include your name, address and phone number, plus a description of where you took the photo and the occasion.

The monthly winner will receive a $50 gift certificate, good at PJ’s Camera. Pickwick Place Plaza, 662 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
