No where else are gun laws so lax

The National Rifle Association and its supporters like to say: “Guns don’t kill people; people kill people.” The fact is, though, that it is much harder to kill without a gun and so easy to kill large numbers very fast with semi- or fully automatic weapons.

The recent school incident in China, taking place about the same time as the Newtown, Conn. school shooting, illustrates this point perfectly. There, a mad man entered a school intending to harm a class of 22 small children. Because he had only a knife, no one was killed, although a few people were injured.

In our highly religious nation, how is it that gun owners and the financial interests of the gun industry trump the lives of so many, including those of little children? No other modern country in the world has such loose rules concerning guns as the United States.
