Indiana governor making last trip in campaign RV

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is riding his signature-covered campaign RV on a final trip after it first helped him win the governor’s office eight years ago.

Daniels and staffers from his two campaigns departed in the vehicle dubbed “RV One” Wednesday morning from the Statehouse in Indianapolis for the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart. The small team wore shirts with “The Final Mile” printed on the back.

The governor’s office says Daniels has visited each of Indiana’s 92 county in the RV at least five times since starting his run for governor in 2003 and has logged tens of thousands of miles.

Daniels leaves office on Jan. 14 and begins the next day in his new job as Purdue University’s president.
