Services for former Lake Zurich officer

Visitation for former Lake Zurich police officer Kristopher “Kris” Zak will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. He died Dec. 14 of natural causes, officials said. Zak begin his career with the department in 1985 as a telecommunicator and became a police officer after graduating for the University of Illinois Police Training Institute in 1988. He served until 2005, when he was granted an on-duty disability benefit. He also served as a community service and DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer during his tenure.
