The 2012 holiday season is upon us, and with this time comes important decisions about year-end giving.
While donating at the national and global level is wonderful and necessary, many local, community-based charities provide the opportunity for us to see first-hand the impact we can make within our own communities.
Like many other organizations, Wellness Place Cancer Education and Support in Palatine is not funded by state or federal dollars. Wellness Place is supported 100 percent through grants and donations. At the same time, Wellness Place delivers services totally free of charge and is a vital and necessary asset to the local community.
Most recently, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, community members and local businesses such as Pl8 Simply Asian restaurant, TLís Four Seasons, Brighton Deer Park, and the Dynamic Professional Womenís Network of Palatine came together, providing special programs to fund-raise on behalf of Wellness Place. The results were outstanding, and monies raised directly fund cancer-related counseling, bereavement programs, educational workshops, support groups, and pain and stress management therapies.
We are forever grateful for this local effort toward awareness which allows us to provide unwavering support to local family members, neighbors and friends currently facing cancer.
One out of two people in America will experience cancer in his or her lifetime. Last year alone, Wellness Place delivered almost 7,000 support services to men, women and children facing cancer in our community.
Please consider giving locally this year, and thank you for your continued support.
