Person in custody in Lake Zurich stabbing

Lake Zurich Police have taken a person of interest into custody related to a stabbing several days ago outside a McDonald’s, officials said.

Police on Saturday would not release the name of the person of interest or whether charges had been brought against the person. Police took the person into custody at about 7 p.m. Friday, according to a release.

Around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, a 21-year-old man was stabbed twice in the abdomen in the McDonald’s parking lot at 653 S. Rand Road, according to a statement released by Lake Zurich police Cmdr. David Bradstreet.

The victim was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington.

Following the stabbing, Bradstreet had said that the attack appeared to be random and the result of some kind of altercation in the parking lot.

Police are still investigating the case.
