Emerald green colors 2013 fashion, beauty choices
NEW YORK — Emerald is no longer green with envy. The green shade is Pantone LLC’s Color of the Year for 2013.
The company, which creates and matches colors for the fashion, home and beauty industries, picks its top hue based on both how it’s already being used and a prediction of sustained popularity.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone’s research arm, says green has been riding a wave of awareness since the 1990s thanks to the environmental movement.
She says emerald is a “balanced color,” exuding growth and unity.
Emerald green had a presence on the spring runways of Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore and Vivienne Tam. Sephora is building a limited-edition beauty collection around it.
An orange color called Tangerine Tango was last year’s pick.
