New associate, asst. superintendents in Dist. 54

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 board members Thursday approved three recommendations from their future superintendent Andy DuRoss for his new cabinet of assistants next school year.

All three are already administrators in the district.

Nick Myers will be associate superintendent, Beth Erbach will be assistant superintendent of student learning and Pete Hannigan will succeed DuRoss himself as assistant superintendent of human resources.

“They represent what makes District 54 as strong as it is,” DuRoss said of the new appointees in a statement.

Myers has been assistant superintendent of student learning since July 2009. He joined District 54 as principal of Anne Fox School in Hanover Park in 2005 after previous jobs in Cary and Nebraska.

Erbach became principal of Armstrong School in Hoffman Estates in 2010 after several previous assignments in the district. She was a special-education teacher at Stevenson Elementary School in Elk Grove Village for four years, assistant principal of both Collins School in Schaumburg and Fairview School in Hoffman Estates for three years, and principal of Fairview for six years.

Hannigan has been principal of Mead Junior High in Elk Grove Village since 2010, and joined the district as principal of Dirksen Elementary School in Schaumburg in 2006. Before that he was a principal in Palatine Township Elementary District 15 and a teacher at Gwendolyn Brooks Elementary School in Aurora.

The two open principal positions have now been posted and are expected to be filled during the winter.

All the appointees will assume their new responsibilities on July 1, when DuRoss succeeds the retiring Ed Rafferty as superintendent.
