Vikings’ Allen expects no payback for Louis hit

Vikings Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen isn’t worrying about retaliation from the Bears on Sunday after he ended guard Lance Louis’ season two weeks earlier with a blind-side block at Soldier Field.

“They had a chance to retaliate during the game,” said Allen, who did not have a reputation for dirty play before the hit that resulted in Louis suffering a torn ACL in his left knee. “There’s nothing to retaliate (for). It wasn’t vicious, it wasn’t malicious, it wasn’t done out of ill will. We had an interception, a guy was running toward our guy to make a tackle and I threw a block.

“Again, my condolences to him. My intent was not to hurt him. You never want to hurt anybody. Unfortunately, that’s part of our game and it happened. But you don’t go into a game wondering what if?”

Considering the 270-pound Allen left his feet to launch himself into the 320-pound Louis, striking him around the shoulders and sliding up into his head, his intent is debatable. If the Bears are planning any payback, they’re not saying so.

“I don’t see that happening,” said Bears offensive coordinator Mike. “There’s been no talk of that, and that’s not how you play the game. You play the game in between the whistles. I don’t teach that kind of stuff; never have. You’ve never seen any stories about my guys chop-blocking or anything like that. We don’t teach that.”

In the fast lane:The Bears kept last year#146;s NFL sack leader Jared Allen and the rest of the Vikings#146; pass rushers off Jay Cutler two weeks ago at Soldier Field. But the Vikings are more dangerous on the field turf at the Metrodome, according to Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice.#147;The speed will be different for us than it is on grass, so it#146;s very important in the pass rush,#148; Tice said. #147;We have to make sure we account for Jared Allen every time we throw the ball, and we will. And we#146;ve got to be able to run the ball efficiently like we did last time and keep ourselves in manageable third downs. #147;That#146;s the key to the game.#148;Another factor is the noise level in the dome, which has played havoc with offensive lines in the past, creating multiple false starts.#147;It#146;s going to be loud,#148; said Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. #147;Jared Allen is a little bit of a different player in that dome compared to Soldier Field. There#146;s a lot to deal with. It#146;s going to be a challenge.#148;Injury update:Wide receiver Earl Bennett (concussion) did not practice Thursday and is out for Sunday along with linebacker Brian Urlacher (hamstring). Cornerback Tim Jennings (shoulder) and running back Michael Bush (ribs) also did not participate in the second straight indoor practice at the Walter Payton Center. Jennings appears doubtful at best, while Bush should play. Wide receivers Devin Hester (concussion) and Alshon Jeffery (knee) both were limited. Jeffery seems to have a better chance of playing Sunday than Hester. Defensive tackle Stephen Paea (foot), guard Chris Spencer (knee) and offensive lineman Gabe Carimi (hamstring) also were limited. For the Vikings, wide receiver Percy Harvin (ankle) was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Defensive end Jared Allen (shoulder/back) did not practice for the second straight day and running back Adrian Peterson (coach#146;s decision) was given the day off.
