Aaron Lawlor’s speech to the county board

Members of the board:

Thank you for your support and vote of confidence. I am so grateful to lead the Lake County Board.

I’ve known some of you for years. Others, I’ve just gotten to know recently. We have some new faces, some veterans members and some in between.

There is a lot of change among this board today. But our priorities remain the same.

Together we will continue our strong record of fiscal responsibility and maintain our AAA bond rating.

We will pursue the extension of Route 53 vigorously, utilizing all of our leaders and build on the foundation that has been laid over the last several years.

We will continue to provide the infrastructure and services that our communities need in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

Let me be clear: I do not serve as the chairman, I serve as your chairman.

Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to sit in many of your living rooms and at coffee shops to hear what your priorities are. We’ve talked a lot about new ideas and ways to improve issues the board is already working on.

Those were not passing thoughts. They are now policy decisions for the board to evaluate.

Together we will create a new agenda to advance these proposals for the benefit of all of our neighbors.

This coming year marks my 10th year in public service. It is an honor to serve as your chairman.

I couldn’t do this without you. But I especially want to thank my mother who has been there for me and continues to be.

I look forward to working with each of you.

Thank you.

Route 53 extension a top priority for new Lake County Board chairman
