Hearing on lawyer’s motion in NY Facebook case
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The latest in a string of lawyers who’ve represented a New York man in a multibillion lawsuit against Facebook wants off the case.
A hearing is set Tuesday on Ohio attorney Dean Boland’s motion to withdraw as Paul Ceglia’s attorney.
Boland filed the motion last month, a few days after Ceglia of Wellsville was arrested on charges accusing him of doctoring and destroying evidence to support his civil suit. Ceglia has pleaded not guilty.
Boland hasn’t publicly said why he wants to withdraw, only that it has nothing to do with any belief Ceglia engaged in fraud.
Ceglia’s lawsuit claims half-ownership of Menlo Park, Calif.-based Facebook based on a 2003 contract with founder Mark Zuckerberg.
At least a half dozen lawyers and firms have withdrawn from the case before Boland.
