Two injured in Elgin crash

Two people were injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Elgin, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 12:19 p.m. at the intersection of State and Chicago streets when the driver of a sedan went through a red light and hit a pickup truck, Elgin Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan McMahan said.

“We found the pickup truck on its side with the occupant inside,” he said.

Rescue crews cut off the truck’s roof to get the driver out of the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin in fair condition, McMahan said.
