Aurora church hosts annual Thanksgiving hike, breakfast

Submitted by First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church in Aurora will host its 69th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Hike and Breakfast.

This annual event will take place Thursday, Nov. 22, and will culminate at the Harkness Family Center, 60 S. Fourth St.

Starting at 6:30 a.m., there will be a choice of two different hikes. Hiking on park district paved paths (tentative with construction) along the Fox River, hikers may start from McCullough Park or take a 3.1-mile circular hike starting and ending at the Harkness Family Center. A map of both routes is available at church’s office.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., which includes pancakes, sausages, cereal, fruit and beverages. After breakfast, there is a time of thanksgiving in song and a brief devotional message. Breakfast tickets are $3 for adults; $1 for children ages 10 and younger.

Advance ticket purchases are encouraged. Hike walk-ins are always welcome. For details, call (630) 844-0050.

Last year, more than 150 individuals were served Thanksgiving breakfast.
