Term limits needed, but lobbyists are not
I’ve been around for a long time and have had ample opportunities to observe the actions of our politicians. I have concluded that four things are necessary to save our country from their machinations.
1) Term limits. Three for a congressman/woman. One for a senator. Prohibit shifting of public office levels when a term limit expires, such as former congressmen/women running for senator, former senators running for representative and either from running for president.
2) Outlaw lobbyists. Perhaps when the legislators are no longer receiving the “under the table” benefits the lobbyists shower on them they will pay attention to the people.
3) Term limits for Supreme Court justices. They tend to develop a “god” complex and place themselves above the Constitution. Require appointment approval by both houses of Congress.
4) Eliminate the Electoral College. This is a throwback to the days when high speed communication was a man on a fast pony. It also destroys the “one man, one vote” concept.
Thank God there is a two-term presidential limit in the amendments to our Constitution.
