Research judges before you vote

Once again all 60 judges were retained in the election. Most of these judges are “Highly Qualified” and should be retained. The judges must receive at least 60 percent “yes” vote for retention.

In the last 22 years in Cook County, only one judge was not retained. But what about the few bad apples? There were just five judges who were found “Not Qualified” by a majority or all 11 of the independent bar associations. The website voteforjudges.org listed all the judicial ratings of the independent bar associations. The Tribune and the Daily Herald both ran the independent bar associations ratings. The Tribune even printed an article on Cynthia Brim why she should not be retained.

These judges are in office for at least the next six years or longer when they get re-elected. Thousands of people will appear before these judges. They and you deserve better. We should all take the time in the next election to make sure the highest quality judges are elected and not just vote yes for all the judges.
