2 dead after Indianapolis workplace shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a worker at a Con-Agra Foods plant in Indianapolis has died after he fatally shot a co-worker and then turned the gun on himself.

Police spokesman Michael Hewitt said Friday night's shooting "appears to be a murder-suicide."

Hewitt says the shooting in the break room was reported about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Con-Agra spokesman Dan Hare confirmed Saturday morning that the two dead were employees. He referred all other questions to the Indianapolis police.

"We're saddened by the tragic event, and our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones," Hare said.

The gunman died at the scene. The other man died at a hospital.

Hewitt says investigators don't know the motive for the shooting. He didn't know what type of firearm was used.
