6 years for violating probation for threatening Aurora cops
A 51-year-old man was sentenced this week to six years in prison for repeatedly violating his probation that he received after repeatedly calling the Aurora police department in 2008 and threatening dispatchers and officers there.
Kane County Judge James Hallock sentenced Brian L. Countryman, of the 0-99 block of Westwood Drive, Indian Head Park, after Countryman admitted earlier this year to violating his probation.
Prosecutors said Countryman called the 9-1-1 Aurora police number 297 times within a 24-hour period in February 2008, using profanity, threatening the dispatcher and threatening to blow up the station.
While on bond for the February case, he again called Aurora police in December 2008 more than 50 times, playing loud music into the phone and swearing.
In May 2009, he was sentenced to 30 months probation for the two episodes in 2008, according to prosecutors and court records. A condition of probation on the felony telephone harassment charge was that he not break the law.
Prosecutors said Countryman did not only that, but used a phone to do it.
He was sentenced to two years probation after admitting in November 2010 to telephone harassment in Cook County. And in March 2011, prosecutors said, Countryman violated his probation by committing telephone harassment in DuPage County and aggravated stalking in Cook County. He was sentenced to two and four years in prison, respectively, on those charges.
This week, Hallock sentenced Countryman to three years for each of the 2008 cases; the sentences will be served one after the other and after the Cook and DuPage County sentences, prosecutors said.
