Injury forces casting change for Drury Lane’s ‘Singin’ in the Rain’

Injury is forcing Sean Palmer (“Sex and the City”) to depart “Singin’ in the Rain” at Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace. The show is still in previews and Palmer will continue with the production in the role of Don Lockwood through Sunday, Nov. 18, before leaving for surgery.

Taking over for Palmer is Broadway veteran Tony Yazbeck (“Gypsy,” “Chicago”) who starts Wednesday, Nov. 21. Yazbeck previously played Lockwood for the St. Louis Muny in 2011. The casting change has pushed back the production’s official opening night to Friday, Nov. 30.
