College of DuPage Facebook Reaches 5,000 ‘Likes’

“From fun events to registration dates to campus closings, Facebook has become an important way for us to share what’s happening on campus,” said Laurie Jorgensen, director of Marketing and Creative Services at College of DuPage. “This is an important milestone in terms of numbers. But just as important is the fact that we’ve now reached a point where our fans are regularly contributing. We’ve formed a true online community among our students and staff.”

To celebrate, COD will select random Facebook fans to receive an iPod shuffle, a Starbucks gift basket, a $25 COD cafeteria card and 20 COD goodie bags.

“Facebook allows us to hear directly from students – what they like, what they don’t like, even what they find confusing or difficult to deal with,” Jorgensen said. “That information can direct us to make changes that help us better meet student needs. And that’s what makes Facebook a unique and valuable medium – it’s not just staff posting information, it’s also students posting and sharing with one another.”
