Metropolis adds new shows to winter lineup
The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights has added several new shows to its winter 2013 lineup:
Ÿ "The Stupid Economy" is a comedy show by Chrissy Hogue that finds humor amid the global economic crisis. It plays 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11. Tickets are $30.
ŸPure Prairie League brings a big dose of bluegrass and country revival music with its hits like "Let Me Love You Tonight," "I'm Almost Ready" and "Amie." The concert is 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. Tickets are $55.
ŸDenny Diamond has built up a strong career as a spot-on tribute act to legendary rock singer/songwriter Neil Diamond. Hear Diamond hits like "Cracklin' Rosie," "Sweet Caroline" and more at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28. Tickets are $30.
ŸCreole Stomp blends blues, jazz, rock and R&B styles to celebrate the music of Louisiana in advance of Mardi Gras. The band plays 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Tickets are $30.
Ÿ Tempest Rising continues the Mardi Gras celebration with a mix of rock and flamenco music with a plethora of rock covers. The band plays 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. Tickets are $25.
ŸTonic Sol-Fa is a celebrated pop a cappella group that has been seen on "The Today Show" and toured with Shawn Colvin. This acclaimed vocal quartet plays 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Tickets are $40.
