Boomers manager Bennett returning for 2013 season

After compiling a 54-42 record in his first season with the club, manager Jamie Bennett has agreed to a new contract with the Schaumburg Boomers.

Bennett, 34, returns as Boomers skipper after leading the 2012 Schaumburg squad to within a game of a playoff berth during their inaugural season. The Tennessee native will build on a solid foundation with several players expected to return from a team that spent 50 days atop the standings last summer.

“Since the day he joined our team, Jamie Bennett has been the consummate representative of Schaumburg Boomers baseball both on and off the field,” said Boomers president/GM Andy Viano. “His rapport with his team, his knowledge of the game of baseball and his ability to bring in the best talent from around the country is unparalleled in the Frontier League. After turning the Boomers into a winner from scratch last year, I’m extremely excited to see what he’ll do for an encore in 2013.”

The Boomers open the 2013 season on May 16. Boomers season tickets and other ticket plans are available by calling (847) 461-3695, with discounts available until Nov. 30.
