The ironies of election, government

So another election is in the books. One of the worst states in the union gave more power to the group that continues to deliver nothing but economic disaster.

I am starting to believe Winston Churchill when he said “the biggest argument against Democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”

Good news is that after looking at the 300-plus-page Lake County budget proposal (can’t understand why the average person does not participate in the process with documents this lengthy), we spent $70,000 on bilingual voting requirements, but we cut back on the “I VOTED” stickers. Seems like a simple sticker, but one that is worn with pride — no matter what the outcome of an election is.

Pride and joy of Illinois.
