West Chicago man charged with molesting neighbor girls

A West Chicago man who prosecutors say lured two young neighbor girls into his home with candy is accused of molesting them and taking pornographic photos of the children.

Jose Guerrero, 47, was being held in the DuPage County jail Wednesday on $750,000 bail. He faces charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.

Authorities said Guerrero used candy to repeatedly lure two neighbor girls, ages 7 and 8, into his home over the summer. He is accused of molesting both children and taking nude photos of them. Prosecutors said the photos were found on a camera recovered from a boiler room at Guerrero’s apartment building on the 300 block of Clayton Street.

Both girls described the alleged attacks to investigators. Authorities said one girl was molested six times. Guerrero also confessed, according to prosecutors.

He appeared in bond court Tuesday before Judge Karen Wilson. He would have to post $75,000 to be released.

Guerrero’s next court date is Nov. 13 before Judge Daniel Guerin. Arraignment is Dec. 3.
