Arrangements set for Palatine teen found dead at NIU
A celebration of life in honor of a 19-year-old Palatine man found dead last week at a Northern Illinois University fraternity house will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, where he was an active volunteer and member.
David R. Bogenberger, a freshman at NIU, was found unresponsive Friday in a bed at the off-campus Eta Nu Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to help determine a cause of death.
Bogenberger is survived by his parents, Gary L. and Ruth A. Bogenberger of Osprey Fla.; his older brother, Matthew; triplet sister and brother, Megan and Alex; and younger sister, Amy, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was majoring in finance at NIU, after graduating earlier this year from Palatine High School. While at Palatine High, he enjoyed business studies in DECA, an organization which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for business careers in high schools and colleges around the globe. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s honor may be made to DECA, Inc., Attn: Ryan Dyck, 1908 Association Dr., Reston, VA 20191.
