Vets work out free this month in Fox Valley Parks centers

The Fox Valley Park District has proclaimed November to be Veterans Recognition Month and will pay its respects with an offer of free admission at its fitness centers, as well as a complimentary luncheon.

Throughout November, veterans may visit any park district fitness facility an unlimited number of times for no charge. Free admission for veterans, their spouses and children is offered at the Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road; Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave.; and Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail.

In addition, the park district is hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Prisco Community Center.

“We urge our residents to express gratitude to and recognize the sacrifice and valor of our active and former servicemen and women,” said Laurie Hoffman, director of recreation and communications.

The offers apply to all veterans and active military — and their immediate dependents — as well as members of the National Guard and Reserves. Participants must show a valid military ID card.
