Military museum to open in Des Plaines

A museum honoring veterans of all branches and featuring military memorabilia from all eras opens this month in Des Plaines.

A joint project of the Des Plaines Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2992 and Oakton Place, the museum will be located on the first floor of Oakton Pavillion, 1660 Oakton Place in Des Plaines.

A grand opening celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Refreshments will be served.

The museum will be open daily and is free to the general public. Anyone interested in donating military items may call Steve Schaefer at (847) 452-6991 or Dave Murphy at (847) 398-1575. Items may also be brought to the Nov. 10 opening.
