Water main leak closes Glen Ellyn library

The Glen Ellyn Public Library is expected to reopen Friday after a nearby water main break kept it closed Thursday.

Village public works crews were repairing the water main on Duane Street throughout the day after the leak was discovered Thursday morning, said Anthony McGinn, the library’s marketing coordinator.

Water service to the library at 400 Duane St. had to be shut off for repairs to be made, he said.

A plumber is expected to visit the building early Friday to determine if the facility’s sprinkler system, faucets, sinks and toilets are working properly. If everything is operational, the library will open at 9 a.m. as normal, McGinn said.

“As of now, the administrators and staff plan on getting here earlier to walk around with the plumber,” he said.

Library officials encouraged patrons to visit the library’s website in the morning for updates.
