Yes on Arlington Hts. park referendum

I typically do not get overly involved in public issues. Life tends to be so demanding as it is, with being a full-time mom of two high school kids, wife, and managing a career. However, supporting the Arlington Heights Park Referendum is worthy of the time.

The Arlington Heights school and park district were the two main reasons I moved to Arlington Heights almost 20 years ago. This community is why I stayed all these years and added on to my house twice in order to stay.

There has been much dialogue about why to vote no for this referendum. I understand why some people would be concerned about increased taxes. I look at this as a smart investment, an investment that will pay off in the future.

Investing in our community infrastructure is not wasteful in my opinion. The buildings being updated in most cases have not been updated since the 1970s. Eventually they will need to be updated. Why not now when interest and construction rates are at an all-time low?

The park district has accounted for the plan and listened to what the community needs. Unfortunately there is not enough money to update everything, but I believe the park district has put together a plan that uses the funds in the most appropriate way, helping the community get the most for the money spent.

I vote yes! And I hope you agree. Please vote Nov 6. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion,

Chris D'Alessandro
