Route 176 work to take longer

Roadwork on Route 176 in Island Lake is taking longer than expected, and the project will be delayed until at least after the winter months, officials said. The Illinois Department of Transportation project is focusing on the stretch between Darrell and Mack roads. The project is designed to reduce flooding in the area. Village officials learned last week the project won’t be done this year. The delay was blamed on problems with AT&T utility lines.
