Look at strides economy has made

In response to Mr. Oras’ Oct. 10 letter, President Obama’s receiving the Peace Prize came as just as big a surprise to him as it was to you. I’m sure you realize that it had nothing to do with what he had already done but what the Nobel Committee and, quite frankly, the world expected of him in the future. I believe that most reasonable citizens of this planet were tired of the cowboy diplomacy of the previous eight years.

You used the hackneyed phrase “leading from behind.” What should he have done, invaded Libya? A horrible dictator was removed, and we didn’t lose a single person in the process. Not sure what Gov. Romney would have done. He’s had multiple opinions on this matter. You choose.

With regard to the embassy attack in Benghazi, did you realize the Obama administration had requested more funds for embassy security from Congress and the GOP voted it down?

You mentioned that we are not better off now than we were four years ago. Do you remember how many jobs were being lost each month in ’08? We’ve had positive job growth every month for the past 3½ years. Do you remember where the Dow was four years ago? 6000. It’s now more than double that. This hopefully improved your 401(k) or IRA.

I know it has improved the bottom line for the folks on Wall Street and corporations have had record profits since he took office. By the way, real estate prices are on the rise as well.

Gov. Romney is proposing more of what got us in the hole we were in and then some. I’d think twice about him being in touch with reality unless you believe the reality of the financial crash of ’08 is a good thing.
