Illinois Tollway board awards $26M in contracts

DOWNERS GROVE — Illinois Tollway officials have awarded more than $26 million in contracts for projects that widen Interstate 90 from Rockford to the Kennedy Expressway and create a western access to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Contracts awarded Thursday by the Tollway board of directors are:

—A $16.9 million contract to Burns & McDonnell for corridor construction management for the first phase of the widening project between Elgin and Rockford.

—An $865,120 contract to HDR Inc. for master plan services between the Kennedy Expressway and Lee Street.

—A $7.1 million contract to G.E.B. JV for design services for roadway widening and resurfacing on the Elgin O’Hare Expressway.

—A $1.5 million contract to Alfred Benesch & Co. for design services for bridge reconstruction on the Elgin O’Hare Expressway.
