Student sexually assaulted at CLC, authorities say

A female College of Lake County student was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance at the Grayslake campus, authorities said Thursday.

The attack occurred about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in a courtyard near Willow Lake where students often gather, CLC spokeswoman Evelyn Schiele said.

The crime was reported to campus police Wednesday night after the victim sought medical treatment at Highland Park Hospital, Schiele said.

CLC issued an email alert about the crime to students and employees about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall and lanky with brown hair. He was wearing a blue or green short-sleeved shirt at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information about the attack can call CLC police at (847) 543-2081.

Reports of violent crimes at CLC are relatively rare. Two sexual attacks were reported in 2011, Schiele said.
