What is the value of bats?

Did you know that bats are the only mammals that truly fly? Learn the facts about the mysterious, often-maligned bat and how to protect this important animal. Lara Sviatko, who has been interested in bats for 25 years, will discuss the subject at the Lake County Audubon Society meeting at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at the Libertyville village hall, 118 W. Cook St. Sviatko will cover the value of bats to the environment and economy, dispel myths, provide interesting bat facts, outline the threats bat face and what is being done to lessen them and discuss places to view bats here and around the country.
